Foreword

ExTech 2008, the 10th International Symposium on Advances in Extraction Techniques, took place at the siteOudSint Jan, Bruges, Belgium, on 28–30 January 2008. The ExTech symposia series began in 1999 (at the University of Waterloo, Canada) and was organised by Professor Janusz Pawliszyn. Subsequent meetings have taken place at Waterloo (2000, organised by Professor Pawliszyn), Barcelona, Spain, (2001, organised by Professor Josep Bayona), Paris, France (2002, organised by Professor Marie-Claire Hennion), St. Pete Beach, FL, USA (2003, organised by Professor Abdul Malik), Leipzig, Germany (2004 organised by Professor Peter Popp), Campinas, Brazil (2005 organised by Professor Fabio Augusto), York, UK (2006 organised by Dr. Graham Mills and Professor John Dean and A˚ lesund, Norway (2007 organised by Professors Stig Pedersen-Bjergaard and Knut Rasmussen).
