    Abstract

There is a strong business case for effective management of health and safety, particularly for those organisations who, by the very nature of their business, involve their employees in potentially dangerous work activities. Across all sectors, employee well-being has emerged as an important health and safety issue because of the significant costs associated with absence through stress-related illness and the implications this can have for organisational performance.
