    Abstract

The telecommunications industry in the US is re-assessed using a methodology which incorporates new developments in time-series analysis. The issue of natural monopoly is re-considered with a view to the validation of the use of applied econometry in the fields of divestiture and industrial policy. Recent developments in US telecommunications are considered and incorporated into the model.
