N2 - International students in Britain are central to debates about empire and imperial afterlives, immigration, race and anti-racism. Late twentieth century Britain is replete with examples of people who came to the UK to study, but their contribution to the discourses about race and imperial legacies, and their direct contribution to their local communities have, until now, been largely overlooked. This book illustrates the significant contributions of international students to student politics, local communities and activism, and British society and culture. Drawing on a range of primary source evidence, much of which was created by international students, this book explores the dynamics of Britain’s transition from an imperial to a post-imperial state through the lens of international students.
