    Abstract

    Social workers in England routinely work in collaboration with their colleagues in health services but how that is conceptualised and practised is shaped by a very different institutional environment. This article will set out the main factors that influence social work in health related contexts in England, using hospital social work as an example to illustrate key themes and issues.
