Introduction: Brave new world – digital transformation of international trade and investment: what may the future hold for law?

Abstract

With technological advancements such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), Smart Contracts, Cloud Computing, Big Data, 5G and Telecommunications, and most recently ChatGPT5 as the new kid on the block, so to speak, the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been ushered in recent decades. This digital transformation has entered a brave new world and revolutionised trade and investment by digitally facilitating them. It will progressively continue further with the ongoing innovations of digital technologies in the years ahead.
