Abstract

How the two former colonizers, historical competitors, they cooperate in Africa? Each country has a "privileged area" action in Africa, but the continent's challenges require them to reconsider this traditional logic. Against terrorism, climate issues but also deal with the rise of new actors such as China, how the two actors "historical" can they unite not to lose their economic and political influence on the continent? A new collaboration Franco-British Africa was defined in 1998 by agreement "Saint-Malo II" but its terms remain poorly known in France. This conference will take stock of the successes and limitations of this Agreement, in three areas: diplomatic, military and development.
