Abstract
Here in the Philippines the political struggle between the Marcos and Duterte factions of our ruling elite shows no signs of letting up. Vice president Sara Duterte is currently on trial for allegedly planning to assassinate president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos. She now holds the dubious honour of being first Filipino VP to be impeached – and the first to be impeached twice. The last move against her back in February last year was ruled unconstitutional by our Supreme Court and widely viewed as politically motivated.
