Listening to voices at the margins: be careful what you wish for

Abstract

This article presents the key findings from a study that explored the voices of young people excluded form school. On presenting the findings to organsiations and at conferences repsonses brought into question the credibility of the sources - namely the young people. Rather than criticising these institutions the author suggests a new researcher - educator paradigm be developed that involved schools and organisations form the outset of the project in order to learn together.
