Mandatory training for the masses

Sound holistic care of clients and patients relies upon several factors combining in the correct mix (Gregory et al, 2007; National Audit Office, 2001; Wiener, Kanki, Helmreic, 1993). Factors may include staff, skill mix, equipment or environmental ergonomics to name a few (Aliner, 2006). This article will investigate one aspect of staff needs, in particular the requirements for continual updating and demonstrable competence in nine core domains of statutory and mandatory training.
