Abstract
The design includes a new exhibition space, conference room and restoration of the chapel embracing a famous "tabernacolo" painted by Benozzo Gozzoli. Benozzo is one of the main artists of the Renaissance. His paintings are also included in the National Gallery collection in London.
The initial design was the result of a winning architecture competition (first prize). However the current design as been completely redone in 2017 due to the requests expressed by the Soprintendenza (Heritage Protection Body - Italian Government). The project also includes an extensive landscape design of the area called "Belvedere". Total cost of the works: 500,000 euro. Expected completion: December 2017.
A further element of interest is the collaboration with David Tremplett, one of the British most important contemporary artists (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Tremlett). Tremlett will paint the external wall of the new pavilion.
Environmental sustainability is also a key aspect of the project. It will be infact connected to the "district heating system" that uses the biogas generated by the local dump.
