Abstract

This article traces the historic movement of the urban allotments in Berlin and questions the government-community dynamic relationship through the lens of heritage discourses and raises crucial concerns related to the identification, protection and management of this heritage component of the city of Belin. This will be carried out by understanding heritage as a discursive practice and using the Community Narration approach to establish bottom-up interpretations of this heritage. The article produces a comprehensive understanding of this heritage product, informs its regeneration strategies, and as a result provides a critical reflection on the Development Plan Berlin 2030.
