Abstract
Bedview is a Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust (PHT) internally developed software product that started out as a bed management system and has evolved into a richly- featured digital health record with links to numerous hospital systems such as for pathology results and radiology reports.
Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust wishes to enhance the user experience for the system. As it has evolved, the presentation and navigation style of the product has not always followed consistent patterns.
The motivation for this project is to determine what approaches towards design consideration of the graphic assets of Bedview can help with the clarity and consistency of communication (eg. legibility, readability, semiotic connotation/ denotation) whilst also being mindful issues of cognitive load users and developers experience.
