Abstract

Advancements in the prosthetics field are resulting in improved healthcare outcomes. Online platforms are giving people the ability to provide feedback to manufacturers. But gaining traction in a niche area of healthcare is often difficult. Having a quality product that provides a better healthcare outcome becomes irrelevant if you price out the patient.
There are new ventures that have stepped in to fill the gap, to reach that segment of the population that has to make a choice between unaffordable care and self-managed risk.
What do we gain and what do we give up? We explore the true costs involved.
