Abstract

This article examines an initiative in the United Kingdom to professionalize counter fraud staff through the creation of the Counter Fraud Specialist (CFS). It describes how common training packages have been created using "Professional Accreditation Boards" which are also accredited by Universities, who embed those awards in specially tailored University programmes. The paper evaluates the success of the initiative so far outlining areas where it could be further enhanced.
