    Abstract

The graphic novel explores the lesser known story of black exodusters in America who, post emancipation, are fleeing the south and east coast and heading west. The town Refuge welcomes them but their individual experience, which is often violent, is a lead weight on the towns prospects. A fight between expansion of the town and more isolationist interests creates conflict.
