N2 - As John Shaw has repeatedly challenged our interpretations of the glacial geomorphology of western Canada, there are now numerous examples in the literature of our responses to his charges of misrepresentation and/or under-utilization of his work (Benn and Evans, 2006; Evans et al., 2006a, 2008; Evans, 2010; Ó Cofaigh et al., 2010a). We continue to defend our position by highlighting the fact that we have, at all stages of our research, adhered to the principle of adopting the interpretation that requires the least assumptions.
