The electricity cost is even higher than the infrastructure cost for a data center especially when they are deployed in large cluster configurations. In this case, the research of the energy optimization for data server is necessary. However, due to the lack of flexible controllable hardware research platforms, commercial server system-level energy optimization algorithms are not very effective. To address this issue, we build a flexible business server simulation platform based on the principles and the energy – efficiency (EE) measurement data of the main components, such as Central Processor Unit (CPU), Hard Disk Drive (HDD), Memory and Power Supply Unit (PSU). Finally, we present an application case based on the simulation platform to illustrate its usage.
