    Abstract

This multimedia puppet show uses novel film, animation, music and drawing to explore 18th and 19th century Portsmouth from the perspective of a sailor and his prostitute girlfriend. Although raucous and irreverent, the show explores many historical facts about life for people in Portsmouth and the difficulties endured both at sea and at home. This highly original puppet show also utilises 3-D printing for puppet parts and an array of visual, audio techniques which make this a highly immersive and unique experience. This will be the subject of several academic outputs to come.
