    Abstract

The study describes the institutional, organizational and political development of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, concentrating on the period after the first direct elections in 1979. In this way, the book illuminates the functioning of the parliamentary groups and expands our knowledge of their role in European integration and in the political system of the EU.

Based on the conceptual framework of various disciplines - history, political science, European studies, political sociology - the book is the result of a research project in which scientists from different academic backgrounds and from different EU countries were involved.
