Abstract

As the Internet of Things (IoT) environment rapidly grows, so do the distribution and utilization of IoT devices in a variety of areas within the industry. This leads to a number of challenges that can occur when being implemented. The implementation of IoT within the Industry increases the attack surfaces of these organizations specially to threats such as cyber-attacks, which alongside the technological development evolve greatly as well. Due to the amount of IoT devices increasing steadily and being easily accessible to everyone, these devices can also be used as a weapon in the cyber-world to implement threats.

This chapter elaborates the key security goals as well as relevant deployment architectures of industrial IoT areas such as agriculture and farming, industry safety, and preventative maintenance. Specific IIoT domains as well as technologies are elaborated. Possible threats endangering these domains as well as incidents of such in the past have been outlined to establish the threats within Industrial IoT and achieve a better understanding of such.
