Abstract

Dr Fiona McCall is Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Portsmouth and Departmental Lecturer in Local & Social History at the University of Oxford Department of Continuing Education. After investigating loyalist memories of the clergy during the Civil Wars and Interregnum, she has spent several years transcribing legal records of the Interregnum relating to religious issues. Below she discusses what these sources tell us about the vaunted role of the military in Interregnum parish life.
