Abstract
The article raises questions, based on the outcomes of two architetcural competition proposals by the authors. Questions relare to: How in a world of shrinking welfare, can designers develop innovative thinking against the market-imposed austerity? How can speculative concepts develop beyond metaphors and allegories? How marginal and excluded populations may be protected? At what level good design practices work on everyone’s gain, when policies focus on rendering invisible any ‘disobedient to the whole’ social identity?
