Abstract
The requirements of maintenance have demanded the creation and development of a modular designed Decision Support System (DSS). This tool is capable of selecting the most appropriate Decision Making Model (DMM) for a specified company. It uses established mathematical procedures such as Analytical Hierarchic Process, Fuzzy Logic and Group Decision Making. This electronic package will make its knowledge available to the largest number of businesses through a multimedia web based approach in a manner that will offer some guarantee of best practices by the use of feed-back and the application of continual improvement. All these criteria will be met at the most economical cost whilst the final decision on choice of DMM will remain under the control of the participating organisation.
