Abstract

This paper reviews the developments of AHP since its creation. In particular, we discuss the problem modelling, the pairwise comparisons, the judgment scales, the derivation methods, the consistency indexes and the synthesis of the weights. We will explain how this method, sometimes severely criticised, has reached a high popularity and has been extremely useful in multiple occasions.
