N2 - The spread of English beyond the boundaries of Britain has led to the emergence of numerous varieties of English, with English assuming the role of an international lingua franca. English is often used in diverse linguacultural contexts in hybrid and fluid forms. As a result, users of English as a lingua franca are multilingual speakers who draw from their linguistic repertoires to produce and exchange meaning. This phenomenon, where English is used simultaneously with other languages, is known as translanguaging.
