Abstract

The case study explores some of the salient issues that arise when scholarship is itself a form of engaged action. It considers some of the issues that may arise when the researcher is at once an observer and a participant in the research. The case study reflects on the experience of a recent research project which found the researcher both the object of the scientific enquiry and a stakeholder in the research, and it proposes measures to ameliorate the inherent tension between these two roles.
