    Abstract

There is evidence that use of the Business Excellence Model (BEM) and Self Assessment (SA) is of value-add to small businesses (SBs). This piece of action research set out to understand how one SB in the service sector could apply the BEM and SA and gain lessons for the development of tools and services, by the British Quality Foundation (BQF), to increase awareness and use of the model and technique in SBs.
