    Abstract

For a long time, nature and, a fortiori the sea have been considered as res nullius in public policies and the economy. The economic evaluation of ecosystems is devised to correct this situation. By fixing a monetary value for the services provided by nature and the changes of human origin, there is need to create conditions where these services can be remunerated through market forces, and degradations compensated by financial retribution.
