Abstract

Examines the findings of research into the differing approaches in various European countries towards prison industries, dealing with issues such as the overall aims of prison training, working with outside contractors, placement schemes for released offenders, the move towards cognitive skills and sex offender treatment programmes, prisoners' rights in relation to prison working and the introduction of restorative justice concepts into prisons. Includes a summary of the key findings of the research study.
