Abstract
This article considers current reports on a dramatic increase in school exclusions in England. It argues that current punitive approaches to behaviour issues in schools are havikng little effect. Drawing on recent research and a small youth project findings it proposes a more relationship centred approach might be more effective and beneficial to students, parents and teachers.
