E-learning and employability

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

Distance-learning courses offer their participants the chance to study anywhere in the world, they are open to students of any age, and they offer flexibility in terms of family and work commitments. In the current economic climate, translation – because of its international nature as a profession – can offer students attractive paths to employability. Thinking global is the way forward in terms of employment and study! At this Translating Europe workshop, Begoña Rodríguez de Céspedes (University of Portsmouth, UK) and Vicent Montalt (University Jaume I, Spain) presented best practices and innovative methods in the curriculum (lifelong-learning skills, translation competences and the creation of e-materials), particularly for distance-learning translation courses. They also shed light on a range of case studies (class sizes, working in a virtual learning environment, teaching and learning methods, outreach, etc.)
