Organiser of 'How plastics talk about plastics: see bin sea change performance installation'
This project explores how through the re-use and ludic use of plastic waste puppetry can develop ways of thinking about ecological issues that are accessible and engaging. The question considered is; how can plastics used playfully as objects create new knowledge about our environment and material world? This Practice as Research event is a large scale performance in Eldon courtyard, Portsmouth exploring the problems of sea waste and raising awareness of new developments in this field of research. The courtyard is filled with the blue light of the ocean and immersed in a sonic soundscape. Within this space shoals of fish, plastic bottle nosed dolphins and a trash octopus swim, frolic and dance. The event provides a littoral gateway into discussions around marine waste. This practice connects with the installation of a sea bin at the research raft in Langstone Harbour, UK.
