The World in Words: A closer look at the origins of academic vocabulary
Activity: Talk or presentation types › Oral presentation
Mr Nicholas Mark White (Speaker), 18 Mar 2021
Why does academic writing look so different from other kinds of writing? Why don't we write academic assessments in the same way we speak? This short interactive talk takes a closer look at the world in words and invites participants to think about why some words seem 'better' than others in academic written communications. This talk is offered by the In-Sessional English team and is aimed mainly at students who have English as an additional, second, or foreign language. The session lasts 50 minutes.
