CLIC: Circular Models Leveraging Investments In Cultural Heritage Adaptive Reuse

Cultural heritage / landscape is a strategic resource for sustainable development in Europe (EU 2014), recognized by the European Union as a key economic resource in the global competition. However, public financial resources and private investments remain limited compared to the need of safeguard and conserve the many historic assets of Europe. There is an “investment gap” and financing, business and governance issues to turn cultural heritage into a resource of economic development in Europe.<br/><br/>Objectives<br/>The overall objective of the project is to identify and test innovative economic models for adaptive re-use of cultural heritage, exploiting and enhancing the multidimensional productivity of cultural heritage as “commons” for a sustainable growth in Europe. The circular economy approach opens innovative solutions attentive to conservation of cultural/natural resources, to local production, loops, etc.<br/><br/>Innovative financial, business and governance circular models for heritage regeneration will be proposed and pilot tested, to mobilize new investments, with the aim of:<br/>1. create value through cooperative, synergistic, sharing and solidarity economic models (e.g. social enterprise models), operationalizing the juridical and cultural category of “commons”: how commons stimulate community behaviours, new demand, etc.;<br/>2. provide focused guidelines to overcome cultural, social, economic, institutional, legal, regulatory and administrative barriers and bottlenecks at city, regional, national and EU level;<br/>3. test potential market uptake through the involvement of relevant stakeholders.<br/><br/><br/>UOP team will lead a WP - s to design, develop and validate a transparent and inclusive Decision Support System (DSS<br/>
