Impact: Educational Impacts (beyond UoP), Cultural & Creative Impacts

Description of impact
Pre-performance talk for English Touring Opera at Portsmouth's New Theatre Royal drawing on my research in the forthcoming chapter on Monteverdi in the Wiley-Blackwell Companion to the Reception of Greek Myth (See outputs)
Who is affected
New Theatre Royal audience, English Touring Opera (Staff Director).
Narrative
This public pre-performance talk framed the performance of Ulysses' Homecoming by Monteverdi in terms of my research into the meeting of 1600s Italian modernity with mediated understandings of Ancient Greek practices in the style of the opera. It was presented together with discussion with the Staff Director of English Touring Opera who talked about how this discourse was palpable in the production. This was the first visit of ETO to Portsmouth and thus the impact goes beyond public engagement towards encouraging them to reengage with our New Theatre Royal in future seasons.
