- Mr Gavin Wade (Participant)
Description of impact
Commercial release of an Indie quality computer game, surrounding press coverage, dissemination of experience to like-minded groups and staff, industry collaboration, and research outputs.
Who is affected
Staff and Students of the University of Portsmouth, end users of the released game, external collaborators (Epic Games).
Narrative
Continuing from prior involvement in projects such as Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, this project enables ongoing research and development into current game technologies, which helps ensure modern asset creation pipelines and related issues are being considered, to support both students and staff in the implementation of commercially viable computer games and relating teaching.
The project is a solo staff-led project, though encouraging innovative students to contribute elements of the games content where possible. Such enables students to apply industry appropriate skills, while contributing to a project aimed at further developing school-wide skills to further enable future innovative projects such as the Schools AAA project (see separate Impact).
