Scientific Heritage of the Royal Victoria Military Hospital
- Dr Elodie Rousselot (Participant)
Description of impact
This project is underpinned by Dr Elodie Rousselot‘s current research on the representation of nineteenth-century scientific discourses in contemporary literature and culture. It consists in a number of public-facing activities aimed at exploring some of the lesser known aspects of the medical history of the former Royal Victoria Military Hospital (Netley, Hampshire). It will also seek to assess contemporary culture’s continuing fascination with the scientific tradition of the Victorian age. To that effect Dr Elodie Rousselot is working in partnership with Hampshire County Council and Potter Associates to produce a series of interpretative panels to form part of an exhibition around the site of the RVMH while it is undergoing redevelopment (from May 2016- May 2017). An ‘unveiling’ event involving the local community is planned for June 2016. The project will also be supported by an online presence in the form of an associated website operated in partnership with HCC.
