Athena SWAN in the School of Creative Technologies

The Athena SWAN Scheme focuses on how higher education institutions can better promote the careers of women in science, engineering, technology and mathematics (STEM). This year’s Athena SWAN Conference, on 04 March 2015, was held within the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries. Previous themes have derived from the Faculty of Science (2013) and the Faculty of Technology (2014). For more information on the conference and the University’s bronze award-winning commitments to the scheme, you can visit its dedicated website below.

Strong Industry Focus

We aim to make a significant impact on the creative and cultural industries both through our highly vocational course portfolio developing the highly skilled and expert graduates needed by industry, and through our industry-relevant research. Most staff have real industry experience and excellent links with the creative industries, so we know what industry needs and expects.

Supporting the student experience

Our students are provided with a whole range of support to enable them to succeed. As well as cutting-edge hardware, software and studios all accessible for use by our students, we have the academic staff and support staff willing to go the extra mile to provide them with the skills to get that all important foothold in the job market.

We are very proud of the achievements of our students and staff. From competition winners to research funding, you can find out about the array of activities we get involved in here by reading our regularly updated news features.
