The School of Health and Care Professions (SHCP) is committed to delivering excellent research to the highest ethical standards in order to improve knowledge and services for the health of the community.
The School enjoys access to extensive resources including a Clinical Skills Laboratory, Digital X-Ray Suite, VERT (Virtual Environment Radiotherapy Training) System, dedicated Ultrasound Room and Centre for Simulation facilities. This includes an operating theatre and Ward/Emergency Room facility.
A wide range of research interests exist amongst staff within the School. The School’s current priority Research & Knowledge Transfer themes include:
ALLERGIC AND RESPIRATORY DISORDER
- Allergy and respiratory disorder
- Epidemiology, diagnosis and management of food allergy
- Management and experiences of asthma and other respiratory conditions
- Non-pharmacological approaches in management of atopic eczema
- Consumer behaviour, nutritional intake and quality of life associated with food allergies and intolerances
HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE ENVIRONMENTS
- quantifying the effects of health and social care environments on health
- exploring the psycho-social effects of health and social care environments
- cross-disciplinary collaborations and networks in environmental design research
HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE OF THE OLDER PERSON
