Dr Adrian Benfell
I am a Senior Lecturer in Business Information Systems in the Faculty of Business and Law. My research relates specifically to Software Engineering with a focus upon requirements and design modelling. I utilise a range of analysis and design techniques drawn from contemporary Software Engineering practices but enhanced by semiotic and social theory. I also apply semiotic theory to find better ways to describe and use web services in Service Oriented Architectures. I have worked on various projects external to academia, notably conducting training and consultancy courses in the Unified Modelling Language and Customer Relationship Management.
My research is linked to improving functional requirements modelling and design using semiotic, sociological and communication theories. I followed this particular line of interest throughout my MPhil and PhD.
