Dr Arseni Goussev
I am a Senior Lecturer in Physics at the University of Portsmouth, UK. Before joining the university in 2019, I worked as a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at Northumbria University, UK (2012-2019), as a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems, Germany (2011-2012), as a postdoc and a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics at the University of Bristol, UK (2007-2011), and as a Humboldt Research Fellow at the University of Regensburg, Germany (2005-2007).
I received PhD in Physics from the University of Maryland-College Park, USA (2005), MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA (2000), and BS in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Russia (1998).
My research has two main themes: one has to do with the dynamics of quantum matter waves, and the other one concerns properties of magnetic materials at the nanoscale. The former theme includes such topics as matter-wave diffraction and interference, time-dependent scattering, escape and focusing of wave packets, quantum echoes and time reversal, quantum transients, quantum backflow and reentry, and quantum chaos. The latter theme has to do with the time-evolution of magnetization textures, such as magnetic domains and domain walls, in ferromagnetic nanostructures of various geometries and topologies.
