Mr Charles Barker
Faculty Learning and Teaching Coordinator, Principal Lecturer
I originally studied History at University of Durham. I took the CPE at the University of Sussex and BVC at the Inns of Court School of Law. I was called to the Bar by the Middle Temple in 1997. I also hold an MA in Humanities from the Open University.
I practised as a barrister in independent practice from 1997 to 2003. In 2003 I took up a post as Assistant Land Registrar at HM Land Registry. While working as an Assistant Land Registrar, I developed an interest in legal training and legal education, writing and delivering numerous internal and external training events. Having previously taught as an Associate Lecturer at the Open University, I decided to take up teaching full time. I joined the Faculty of Business and Law in 2007.
Since August 2008 I have been Director of Postgraduate Law Programmes within the Faculty of Business and Law.
