Dr Chianu Dibia
My background is in Organisational Studies, Human Resource Management, and Operations Management. I completed my PhD in Lean Manufacturing and Employee Working Conditions at the University of Portsmouth. My research has involved organisations in Nigerian and the United Kingdom.
My recent research examines Employee Stress and the Implication of High-Power Distance Culture looking at the Nigerian employment terrain, accepted for publication in the international reputable Employee Relations journal. Other topics I am currently researching are on the role of Human Resource Management in the Circular Economy.
I teach on different Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management Modules at Undergraduate and Postgraduate Levels at the University of Portsmouth. I am a member of the CIPD, BAM and the International Society for the Circular Economy.
I joined the Faculty of Business and Law in September 2018. Before this, I worked as a Guest Lecturer for four years during my PhD at the University of Portsmouth, delivering sessions on Research Methods to students on the MSc International Human Resource Management. I completed my PhD studies in Operations and Systems Management in September 2017 at the University of Portsmouth.
I also hold an MSc in International Human Resource Management (with Distinction) and a BSc in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. For my achievement in my MSc, I won the CIPD Prize for Best Student on the MSc International Human Resource Management in 2012 at the University of Portsmouth. My research experience has been in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
My research interest focuses on Employee Relations, Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management.
I teach both undergraduate and postgraduate modules. The undergraduate modules include Managing People in Organisations; Critical Leadership; Cross-Cultural Awareness for Business; Business Innovation and Development Project; Work-Based Learning; Professional Skills Development, and Management in Business. At postgraduate level, I teach Human Resource Management. I also supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.
I am the Module Coordinator for the Management in Business module and the Distance Learning Critical Leadership module.
