Mr Frank Nguyen
I am a Lecturer in the Accounting and Financial Management Subject Group in the Faculty of Business and Law.
I thoroughly believe that disruptive technologies, for example blockchain, AI, will change our lives fundamentally in the (very) near future. Therefore we need to be ready to embrace those changes. Some manual skills will be inevitably gone while more advanced/judgemental skills will thrive. Accordingly, education must reflect those shifts. And I am keen to participate to that wind of change.
Before joining the University of Portsmouth, I had extensive international work experience in
various industries, including: accountancy (KPMG; PwC), trading and services (Marubeni) and banking (Techcombank and Maritime).
I graduated with the award of Distinction for MSc Data Science and Analytics, from the Royal Holloway
University of London. My master’s thesis was about the correlation between Twitter sentiment analysis and
Bitcoin price fluctuations.
I am the first ICAEW ( Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales )
Chartered Accountant qualified in Vietnam.
I am interested in intersections of Accounting, Finance & Big Data, Machine Learning & Blockchain Technology
Database design and Implementation
Data Analysis and Visualisation
