Dr Gianluca Tozzi
I am a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, director of the Zeiss Global Centre and coordinator of the Bioneer Research Group at the School of Engineering. Formerly, I worked at the School as a Lecturer (2013-2015) and Research Associate (2012-2013). I received a PhD in Orthopaedic Biomechanics in 2012 from the University of Portsmouth and a 5-year MSc in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 from the University of Bologna.
My research interests include 3D/4D X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) and digital volume correlation (DVC) of biological tissues and biomaterials. More recently, I am working on strategies to develop mechanically optimised 3D-printed and electrospun scaffolds for tissue engineering.
