Dr Gianluca Tozzi
I am a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering and director of the Zeiss Global Centre (ZGC) for Healthcare applications at the School of Engineering (University of Portsmouth). Formerly, I worked at the same institution as a Lecturer (2013-2015) and Research Associate (2012-2013). I received a PhD in Orthopaedic Biomechanics in 2012 (University of Portsmouth), and a 5-year MSc in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 (University of Bologna, Italy).
My research interests include 4D microCT imaging, in vitro mechanical testing and digital volume correlation (DVC) of hard tissues, biomaterials and in particular bone-biomaterial systems. More recently, I am working on strategies to develop mechanically optimised 3D-printed biomaterials for tissue regeneration.
