Mrs Helen Thompson-Whiteside
I joined the Faculty of Business and Law in September 2011, following a career of over 20 years in marketing communication and branding roles in technology, local government and tourism. I am a qualified coach and have combined my coaching and branding skills to help clients uncover and develop their personal brand. I am a senior lecturer teaching on a range of undergraduate units and have responsibility as Course Leader for the MSc Coaching and Development.
The role of Course Leader means that I work alongside the course team and our external partner to provide the best possible student experience; supporting students with their projects and assignments. Many of these students are returning to study after many years and are combining their studies with full-time employment. Having done the same myself, whilst studying for a Masters and the Chartered Institute of Marketing exams, I can easily empathise with their issues and concerns.
I am currently studying again, on the University's MSc Research Methods course part-time, where I am actively researching personal branding, and the contribution of location to University marketing. I am a contributing member of the Business Education Research Group (BERG).
My research interests relate to personal branding, and the relationship with university branding.
