Miss Jemma Tyson
Postgraduate Programme Area Leader
My research interests surround disability hate crime and in particular the criminal justice responses to this issue. My PhD research examined the policing of learning disablist hate crime, and builds upon the findings of my Master's thesis on a related topic. The latter research was conducted in partnership with the Cross Government Hate Crime Programme, with whom I worked as an intern for a number of years. I am also an IAG member for Hampshire Constabulary, the Cross-Government Hate Crime Programme's IAG, the CPS Wessex Hate Crime Scrutiny Panel and have also represented the UK government at hate crime events overseas.
