Dr Jemma Tyson
Postgraduate Programme Area Leader
My research interests surround disability hate crime and in particular the criminal justice responses to this issue. My PhD research examined the policing of learning disablist hate crime, exploring the perceptions and experiences of service users and service providers. I am an IAG member for Hampshire Constabulary, the Cross-Government Hate Crime Programme's IAG, the CPS Wessex Hate Crime Scrutiny Panel and have also represented the UK government at hate crime events overseas.
I am currently the Programme Area Leader for Postgraduate Campus provision within ICJS and teach across undergraduate and postgraduate courses, both on hate crime and criminology more broadly.
