Mrs Karen Knibbs
I joined the Faculty of Business and Law in September 2002, following several years' experience working in business-to-business marketing communications and marketing management, in technology industry organisations. I was appointed as Principal Lecturer in 2010, and have two main roles alongside teaching; Curriculum Development lead in Undergraduate Marketing and Course Leader for Undergraduate Marketing, Marketing with Psychology and Digital Marketing BA (Hons) pathways.
The role of Course Leader means that I work alongside the course team, constantly striving to provide the best possible student experience; helping students settle into University life, supporting students with their projects, co-ordinating student representation through focus groups and peer-mentoring schemes, as well as organising professional development opportunities with employers. My foreign language skills and own overseas study experiences also mean I am able to relate well to our broad-ranged study body.
Reflecting my "Every day is a school day" motto, I am currently studying myself, on the University's MSc Research Methods course part-time, where I am actively researching student participation in entrepreneurial and small business marketing activity, and is a contributing member of the Business Education Research Group (BERG).
My teaching interests relate to branding, SME, business-to-business and technology industry-marketing. My research focuses not on Marketing but the development of employability and enterprise agile mindsets whilst at University.
