Ms Kirsty Harris
I started my nursing career at the University of Portsmouth in 1997 and qualified as a registered Adult nurse (RGN) in the year 2000. I had the opportunity to undertake a rotational job once qualified and worked within medicine, surgery, emergency medicine and intensive care. I have worked in intensive care for over 15 years and became involved in simulation training in 2007. During my clinical career, I undertook intensive care and mentoring modules at the University of Southampton. I continued to develop and successfully completed a Certificate in Education and Master’s degree in advanced professional practice in health care studies at the University of Portsmouth.
Curriculum development and delivery of specialist teaching and units relating to healthcare and management of the well and unwell patient (including simulation and clinical skills). I am the module lead for the acute care across care settings and simulation scenario design. Other responsibilities include: tutoring and supporting students, assessment of academic, simulation and clinical skills while supporting students in skill development and practice learning.
